The Georgia Club Golf Tip of the Month -- Golf Spring Training

This month's Golf Tip comes courtesy of Matt Erdmann, Assistant Golf Professional at The Georgia Club.

Get Back Into the Swing of Things
As the weather slowly warms into spring, there are a few simple things you can practice to ensure you begin the golf season in the fairway and on the green. First, always begin any practice session or round with a stretching routine. Stretch out your legs, arms and torso. Second, practice proper posture and alignment without a club. Maintaining proper posture through the swing will influence solid ball striking. Poor posture leads to thin and fat shots and golfers tend to think they're looking up. Looking up is a misdiagnosis and maintaining posture through the swing is the cure. Next, hit simple chip and pitch shots. Stick with wedges and low irons to help build confidence and ball striking. Finally, stick to the putting green. The best way to save strokes is by practicing putting. Practice short putts to influence aim and long putts for feel and speed.

If you have any questions regarding how or where to get started, please give us a call at 770-725-8101 or send us an e-mail.

Enjoy the cool weather and we'll see you on the practice tee. Don't forget that the Professional Golf Staff at The Georgia Club is always here to help and is available for lessons.
